Nancy Pelosi can think on her feet and when Luke Russert asks her at a press conference, where she is announcing that she is staying on as Minority Leader, if she should be thinking about clearing the way for younger leadership, this is what happened.


Colleagues privately say that your decision to stay on prohibits the party from having a younger leadership and hurts the party in the long term. What’s your response?

What makes a Frankenstorm


A big thanks to my friend Glyn Jones aka Bazmundo over on the excellent UKweatherworld forums for finding this. A brilliant and easily digestible write-up of Superstorm Sandy which goes into detail about the dynamics that made this particular storm greater than the sum of its parts.

On the night itself a lot of news outlets seemed confused as to how to describe Sandy. Was it a hurricane? An extratropical cyclone? A Nor’easter? Hopefully lucid articles like this one by Bob Henson will go some way towards setting the record straight.
