A big thanks to my friend Glyn Jones aka Bazmundo over on the excellent UKweatherworld forums for finding this. A brilliant and easily digestible write-up of Superstorm Sandy which goes into detail about the dynamics that made this particular storm greater than the sum of its parts.
On the night itself a lot of news outlets seemed confused as to how to describe Sandy. Was it a hurricane? An extratropical cyclone? A Nor’easter? Hopefully lucid articles like this one by Bob Henson will go some way towards setting the record straight.
